Our manufacturers has selected one of the hardiest species of bamboo. They cut it into strips before drying and compressing it. Once finished, they will coat it with 9 layers of finish with the top 2 layers being aluminum oxide. The result is a flooring product that's stronger than maple or red oak. Unique Wood Floors inspects our products to guarantee each piece is milled above industry standards and each sample is an accurate representation of your finished product. Bamboo flooring in the store

I took pictures of a bunch of different kinds of flooring the night before to try and decide what kind to get. I ended up choosing a bamboo floor that was a bit lighter than this kind. It looks like birch, but a bit more yellow, and with cool designs made by the grain.

Bamboo is extremely hard (harder than most hardwoods) and is almost completely unaffected by water. I also like the fact that bamboo is a more-easily renewable resource than other hardwoods.

18 packages of bamboo flooring, I'd say at least 40 pounds each, one at at time, from the car into the basement. They're actually easier to carry than my winter tires.
